BUILDER SPOTLIGHT: FROM SYLVAN LAKE, ALBERTA
Changing leaves, soft evening light and splashes of orange yellow to blazing red–the beautiful fall season is finally here! Be it by kayak or paddleboard, this is definitely the perfect time to enjoy nature. And hey, It’s also a new month which means another builder spotlight!
Featured this month is from a vibrant lakeside community in Alberta, Canada—Sylvan Lake. Read the builder’s story below.
Board Model:
For this hollow core DIY wood paddle board project he used our San Marcos 11'4" paddle board plan.
Favorite part and most challenging part of the building process:
My favorite part was sanding and shaping the board when the planks were all installed. The most challenging was fiber glassing the sides of the boards and having that real smooth seam without spending hours and hours of sanding.
Lesson learned during the process:
I learned that it's better to cut the wood strips and install them using ore clamps vs a wrap process.
Definitely a project well done for this builder for a stunning masterpiece!
