By using the stitch and glue method for assembling your kayak, expensive power tools are not required. In fact, the only power tools required are a sander and cordless drill. The Laguna measures 13'10" and 30" wide making it perfect for paddlers between 120 to 250 pounds. Most builders require anywhere from 25 to 60 hours to complete their build depending on skill level and if they start with a kit or plans.
The Laguna is the perfect all around wood sit on top kayak for the whole family. It is fast, stable and easy to paddle making it perfect for the lake house and beach house. While not our most stable kayak, it works very well for kayak fishing.

To fit a range of budgets, we offer the Laguna wooden sit on top kayak in both plans as well as kits. Depending on if you start with a kit you can expect to spend roughly 25 to 60 hours building your wooden kayak and will need the following tools: Sander, Cordless drill, pliers and handsaw.
Sit on Top Kayak Plans: We offer or sit on top kayak plans as either a digital option or as a printed paper option. If you purchase the digital option, we will email you full sized templates which may be printed out so that you can cut out the wooden components needed to complete your stitch and glue kayak. If you purchase the printed, plans, we will mail you precision printed full scale plans ready to be traced on your plywood to cut out your wood components. Please note, if start with plans, you will also need a jig saw to cut out your wood components.
Kayak Wood Parts Kit: Starting with our wood parts kit is one of our most popular options. This will save you considerable time as we will ship you precision laser cut wood components needed to assemble your kayak. This will allow you to start right away building your masterpiece. In addition, we include a copy of our digital instruction book to aide in assembly.
Complete Wood Kayak Kit:Opting for our complete kit is by far our most popular option for building your wooden kayak. In addition to the wood parts needed to build your kayak, we include the following items: Epoxy, Fiberglass, Seat, Deck hardware, Carrying handles, Mixing cups, Gloves, Spreaders, Copper Wire. Basically we ship everything you need with one order to complete your kayak which will save you considerable time sourcing materials and parts.

How difficult is this project?
Because no heavy woodworking is required, this project is significantly easier to assemble than our wooden paddle boards. This project should be within the grasp of most people who are comfortable with light household diy projects.
