Lets face it. Austin is a pretty awesome place to live with a never ending stream of awesome places to explore, eat, and relax. To help you plan your perfect weekend paddleboarding in Austin we've put together the definitive guide to ensure you paddle like a local.
If your like us then your probably a little "groggy" from a late night of live music from the night before. Before hitting the water you'll want to shake the cobwebs loose and grab yourself some coffee. A favorite spot is a little restaurant tucked away in East Austin named Laundrette. Pull up a chair at the counter grab some coffee and the "duck hash". Guaranteed you won't be disappointed.
Now that you've got your energy for the day, its time to hit the water. Load your boards up and head on over to secret beach in Roy G Guerro park. While there are an unlimited number of places to paddle in and around Austin, secret beach along the Colorado River is one of our favorites. This stretch of river is the perfect place to SUP in Austin and rarely sees the herds of people that Lady Bird Lake does.
After a few hours relaxing on the water you'll probably start to get a little hungry. That's because despite while you've been having fun and relaxing you've been burning some serious calories. Burning that many calories means that you've earned yourself a nice little post paddle board treat. To beat the heat I recommend loading up the SUPs and making the short trek over to Dolce Neve in South Austin for some Gelato. I can personally say, its the best I've had outside of Italy.
